Guild News

I haven’t been feeling very witty lately, so I haven’t been posting to the web site. One might argue that I wasn’t witty to begin with. In that case, I’ll say that my supply of bad humor has run dry; therefore, I haven’t been posting to the web site.
Well, wit and bad humor aside, it’s finally time for an update.
Raiding - Loot Rule Change for 25 man runs
NOTE: this section was updated on 6/14/2010 after further clarification from the Raid Leadership.
Raid leaders have been talking for some time about whether or not we need to update our looting policies to try to be as fair as possible. We’ve decided it’s finally time to make a switch. The following rules will now be used:
Need Roll - No longer exists
Main Spec Roll - Roll mainspec if you want the item for main spec. The winning roll will be for the highest roll for the member who has not yet won a main spec roll. It’s OK to roll if you have already won something; however, you might not win the item if the other people rolling have not yet won anything. If the only people rolling mainspec have all already won a mainspec roll, then the person with the highest roll will win the item.
Off Spec Roll - Roll Offspec if you can use the item in an offspec. Winning an offspec item does not count toward a main spec roll; however, it does eliminate the person from being eligible to roll on greed items.
NOTE*: This roll can NOT be used as an “alternate” main spec roll. If you wait to roll on an item you can use in your mainspec, a win in this category will still be considered a main spec win.
* There was much debate about whether or not a person could roll off spec on an item they would technically use as a main spec item. The final decision was “No”. This was decided in the spirit of spreading the wealth and preventing people from playing the system. If you really can use an item in your main spec, then you should be rolling main spec on that item. If you are tempted to play the system, then you are likely the only one of your class in the raid for your class / spec which already gives you an advantage for multiple main spec wins.
Professions Roll - Designs, Patterns, Plans, etc will be rolled on separately. First there will be a Main roll (can use it now), followed by an Off roll (can use it later). If no one rolls, the item will be included in the Greed Roll pool. Winning a pattern does not count toward a main spec roll; however, it does eliminate the person from being eligible to roll on greed items.
Greed Roll - All items that do not get rolled on of Main or Off Spec at the time of the drop will be put into a Greed Roll pool. This includes items like primordial saronites as well. At the end of the run, There will be one greed roll. The highest roll(s) will win an item from the Greed Roll pool. We will go in order of highest to lowest roll to pick an item from the pool of items until they are depleted. The only people eligible to roll for greed items will be people who have not yet won anything for the evening (including Main Spec, Off Spec and Patterns).
Additional Info on Professions - General skinning / mining in raids is allowed; however, please ask if others are in the raid so you can take turns. It is still TBD whether skinning / mining / engineering bosses will count against greed roll eligibility; however, it will definitely not be counted as a “main spec” roll.
New Members
I think most of you have met Shinrobi by now. He geared up quickly after he joined us, and he has been an active raider ever since. He has also brought in a friend of his: StfuFrank. Most recently StfuFranks’ wife, TraitorGirl, has joined us as well. They are starting over with new toons, so please offer some help to get them leveled up quickly. I believe their mains are on other servers.
I am probably missing some other new members. I apologize for that. I’m not always on to notice new members.
The world must be ending
Yes, the world must be ending because Foxer has somehow convinced me to try my hand at PVP. He gave me a list of gear to buy with my left of Triumph emblems and provided me with spec / glyph updates to help. The big surprise in all of this was that to be able to run a 2v2 arena team with him (which was my original agreement), I would need to also participate in battle grounds to get my honor up to get better gear. I’ve now participated in Arathi Basin, Wintergrasp and two weeks of arena.
Week 1: Our record in week one was 5 wins - 5 losses…but then we decided to do a couple more and we ended with a 6 wins - 8 losses record. Since we actually won a match, I consider this a huge win.
Week 2: Our record this week was 5 wins - 5 losses.
All I have to say is thank goodness Foxer knows what he is doing in arena. I feel like I’m just flailing about until the match is over. In the end I can only hope that Foxer was able to kill them. My favorite moment was when I panicked and hit my trinket to get out of a stun, used my pain suppression and probably tried to fear everyone all at once…probably when nothing was actually happen that would warrant any of these items. Hopefully in about a year I’ll feel more comfortable and actually know what I’m doing rather than running around like crazy and hoping for the best.
Thank you Foxer for being patient with me!
10 Man Raiding Update
We are cruising through the early bosses in ICC these days. Our only real limitation is raiding time. We actually 9 manned the first 4 bosses on Wednesday with a new tank, Xectavas. Xec did great, and we thank him for working so hard to get his gear up to a level that he can help fill out our raid teams. On Friday, we downed Festergut and Rotface “easily” (see note below), and got in some tries on Putricide. While not killing Putricide, I would say we made some great attempts, and we’ll get this boss added to our list of accomplishments soon. On Sunday night we’ll have a third healer, so we will give Dreamwalker a try and also give Putricide another try.
We will continue with our Wednesday / Friday 10 man raiding schedule. It seems to be working with most people’s schedules. When appropriate, we’ll add on extra nights.
Moncaros FTW
I have highlight the Festergut fight and Moncaros’s great “save”.
For Festergut, we were a little short on range players with only 2 priests (our only healers) and 1 mage. This meant that we would not be able to have a healer in with the melee to avoid the debuff that disables you from casting for a period of time (while throwing up). Unfortunately, while Xec was tanking, we weren’t able to keep him alive and he went down. Mufoxaa still had stacks of the tank debuff, which meant that if he started tanking again it would be instant death for us. Moncaros quickly switched into bear form and took over the boss. We were able to keep him alive long enough for our DPS to get the boss down. It’s really hard to put into words the excitement of the moment. All I know is that it was pretty amazing and one of our most exciting wins. Moncaros deserves a lot of credit for reacting quickly and taking over the mob to get the job done! Thanks Mon!

Spam
by Daffnae on Apr.26, 2010, under Sang Grail Admin
I am from Minnesota, so I do have an appreciation for the novelty of SPAM. However, spam in web site comments and forums can get a little frustrating. I note this not to complain but to explain the impact it has on our guild members.
Use your in-game character name on the forums and web site comments
Guild members must use their in-game character name when signing up for the forums. This lets us know that we are allowing access to a guild member and not subjecting other members to people that don’t belong in the forums.
Over the last 3 weeks, we’ve gotten 3 registrations (I know this isn’t a lot) with non-guild member names. Rusti and I have taken the approach of allowing the registration and then sending a note to them asking them their in-game character name. We haven’t gotten a response. After the second try using the same email address, I decided this is likely not a guild member at all.
Thank you for your understanding, especially if you had registered under a different name and you were denied access.
Comments on the Web site require approval
I have the option turned on to require approval for comments. Therefore, the first time you post a comment there will be a delay before it is shown on the Web site. I try to check for comments daily, but it might take me a couple of days some times.
Once you have been approved the first time, subsequent comments (using the same email address) will be automatically approved.
Tell Us About Your Class
by Daffnae on Nov.24, 2009, under Daffnae, Sang Grail Admin
We are gathering information to post on the Web site in the Know Your Class section under Raiding Information. Daffnae, Padred and Ranthiel have all submitted information so far, and we are looking for more valuable information that others can benefit from.
Please post information about your class in the Class Mechanics forums. I will then gather the information and post it to the web site. It doesn’t have to be a full guide like Ranthiel and Padred have submitted. Any information will be helpful.
A big thank you to Ran and Pad for their information. And another big thank you to Ran for using a layout that is easy to read and can be copied by others.
Keep checking the Web site often to look for new information.

Raiding Refresher
by Daffnae on Nov.16, 2009, under Daffnae, Sang Grail Admin
I have added pages to this Web site with the general raid information that is useful for new raiders and also good as periodic refresher for current raiders. Please Check out the pages under the Raiding Information menu available in the upper right banner above and also listed on the right hand side of this page.
Please offer suggestions for corrections or additional information that would be useful to include. I would also like to add more details on the strategy followed by the alliance on our current content.

Welcome new members from Azeroths Elite
by Daffnae on Oct.03, 2009, under General, Sang Grail Admin
Last week several new members joined Sang Grail from Azeroth’s Elite. We have been raiding and socializing with Azeroths Elite for quite some time, so we are excited that they can now call Sang Grail their home. New members include: Honeybeez, Shimmeree, Onity, Mufoxaa, Xandalis and Jarlaxyle. They all have several alts, many of which are also 80’s.
Please give them a warm welcome. You will see them participating a lot in the guild. All six players are very active with raiding, Honeybeez is now our newest officer, and Xandalis has offered to help out on the Web site.
Breaking News - Sapphiron!
by Daffnae on Apr.13, 2009, under Daffnae, Sang Grail Admin
In an unexpected turn of events, our trial run at Sapphiron turned into success tongiht! We also made one valid attempt at Kel’Thazud. We got him (her?) down to about 40% with a few people missing from the raid. I’m sure we’ll him down soon too.
Sang Grail members present for the kill included: Dareth, RustiKnight, Shereece and Daffnae.
The following friends of the guild were also included: Dyoria, Whitenova and Abbegaile.

Guild Member Spotlight - Rustiknight
by Daffnae on Apr.09, 2009, under General, Sang Grail Admin
Rusti is one of the founding members of Sang Grail. She took a little time off, but she’s back now. She’s one of our most active members and she’s finally getting a taste for Heroics and Raiding. She’s extremely generous in the guild, so please appreaciate her. We can all learn from her generosity and become better at helping others.
Naxx 25 4/3 and 4/4 Runs
by Daffnae on Apr.06, 2009, under Daffnae, Sang Grail Admin
Over the two nights of raids, we downed all 4 wings except the last boss in the Contruct wing (Thaddius). We did make significant improvement and came much closer to getting him down. However, as time started running out, we opted to complete one of the other wings instead of continuing to try against Thaddius.
WOW Web Stats are posted. And I will a post in the forums with several screen shots.
I’m hoping to get a list of loot from DNH. I’ll post that information when I get it.
Here’s a picture of Gluth from the raid:

Alliance Naxx 25 Run - 3/20 on GEM
by admin on Mar.18, 2009, under Sang Grail Admin
The next Naxx 25 man run is scheduled on GEM (see forum post for channel info) for Friday night at 8pm Server time.
The goal for this week is to cover more than 2 quarters and to have a follow-up run later in the weekend (likely Saturday).
All Sang Grail members are welcome to sign up, so please do so!
NOTE: We would like to have a Sang Grail 10 man run at 10pm server on Saturday, so we will likely leave the follow-up run early for the 10 man run.
